Cathi Kutlesa joined the JCC Los Gatos Fitness Team in September and is one of our new Group Fitness Instructors! Cathi has been a group fitness instructor for over 25 years. She is AFAA/NASM certified.Â Â
Cathi is very passionate about fitness. She prides herself on providing multi-level, safe and effective workouts. She emphasizes good form and alignment to help prevent injuries and to get the most out of each exercise. Cathi enjoys interacting with members and helping them reach their fitness goals.
Cathi began her journey when her mom enrolled her in ballet which ended up lasting 20 years. She was taking advanced ballet and pointe classes four days a week by age ten.Â
She also did jazz dance for years. In high school, she was on the dance team and then a cheerleader. After high school, she taught ballet at Saratoga Community Center for a few years. She has always loved being active and went on to take Jazzercise. She says that this was really her first experience with aerobics. Cathi then started working out at home with videos. She got a step and weights and worked out two hours a day, five days a week. One day, her best friend suggested to Cathi that she should take classes at the junior college to learn how to teach group fitness. Cathi ended up enrolling at Olone Junior College in Fremont and learned about form and alignment.Â
Cathi took her AFAA certification and started teaching immediately. She says that it came so naturally to her and felt like it was her calling. Cathi has completed many certifications since then and has taken many continuing education classes. Cathi has devoted her life to teaching safe and effective classes. She enjoys passing her knowledge on to others. She believes the most important thing when teaching classes is proper form and alignment. Cathi says, â€œNo matter what is going on in my life, when Iâ€™m teaching, Iâ€™m in the zone. Itâ€™s my favorite thing to do in life! I try to bring the love that I have to the members who take my classes. As a result, I have always had an amazing following. I appreciate each and every person who takes my classes and I ALWAYS give my classes 100 percent.â€
