Meet Our Yoga Instructors: Sara Frazier

We are celebrating National Yoga Month by featuring all of our amazing yoga instructors here at the JCC! First on the introduction list is Sara Frazier.

Sara has been practicing yoga with passion since 1990. From a career in marketing and administration at a high-tech company, she followed her heart to become a yoga instructor. She studied yoga with Joyce Anue of the YES School, and completed 200 hours of training in addition to several workshops. She has been teaching for over 18 years, in several fitness centers, including the Addison-Penzak JCC.

Sara’s intent as a yoga teacher is not only to cultivate strength and flexibility in the body, but to help her students become aware of their own conditioning and potential. Yoga is not only a physical discipline, but a powerful tool for mental and emotional healing.

Sara’s Hatha Yoga style classes focus on Pranayama (breath work), stretching for flexibility, strength, balance, core strengthening, sun salutations, and meditation. Sara uses and plans different themes every week in her classes, while incorporating meditation, standing postures, balance work and breathing awareness.

Stretch with Sara

With how busy life can get, we do not take enough time to relax and reflect. Let us all take a moment to find relaxation and stretch with Sara by doing her favorite yoga pose.

When asked what her favorite pose is, Sara said it is the Bow pose (“Dhanurasana” in Sanskrit), or any other backbend poses. It opens the entire front body, opens the heart, and is very stimulating. “I feel like singing after a backbend practice,” she said.
