Diversity and Jewish Values: What Does It Mean Today?
Tuesday, August 25  |  7:00-8:00pm

Don’t miss this in-depth, Jewish conversation about diversity and equity. Come November, each one of us will face a decision on the ballot with Proposition 16–“Allow Diversity as a Factor in Public Employment, Education, and Contracting Decisions.” Learn about the history of “affirmative action”, the perspectives of Jews of Color, and decide for yourself whether California needs a change of policy to create greater equity for women and minorities.

Shekhiynah Larks is the Program Coordinator/Diversity Trainer at Be’chol Lashon. She is a graduate of the University of San Francisco in political science and Jewish studies. She is a native of Oakland, and she is unapologetically Black and Jewish. She is an active blogger on Jewish &.

Marc Dollinger holds the Richard and Rhoda Goldman Chair in Jewish Studies and Social Responsibility at San Francisco State University. He is the editor and author of numerous books, including California Jews (ed.) and Black Power, Jewish Politics: Reinventing the Alliance in the 1960’s.

Moderated by Diane Fisher, Director of the Jewish Community Relations Council of the Jewish Federation of Silicon Valley.
